QED supports both RSS and Atom xml.gif feeds, and provides support both for generic feeds and specialized feeds, e.g. watchlist feeds and feeds by category.

To construct a specialized feed, you will need to create your own URL by appending a specification of your selection criteria to the following base: 

http://qed.princeton.edu/feeds.php?

For example: 

http://qed.princeton.edu/feeds.php?format=atom&feed=watchlist&user=Netid

In the case of Google Mail, you would proceed as follows:

  1. Copy the desired URL or template to the clipboard
    • to copy, right-click on the link or text and select the appropriate option
  2. Go to the Preferences tab in Google Mail
  3. Select the "Web clips" tab
  4. Paste the link into the box labeled "Search by topic or URL:"
  5. Edit the pasted text as appropriate

Specialized Feeds

The variable names and their permissible values are as shown in the following table.

VARIABLE POSSIBLE VALUES EXPLANATION
format {rss, atom} the feed format to generate
number (an integer) the maximum number of items to include per feed
feed {newestpages,recentpagechanges, newestuserpages,
recentuserpagechanges, categorychanges, watchlist} 		which feed to return (see below)
username (a userid or netid) specify the userid or netid for user-related feeds
category (a category) specify the category for category-related feeds

Note:

  • newestpages lists the newest articles in your wiki;
  • recentpagechanges lists all recently changed articles;
  • newestuserpages lists the last pages to be created by a user;
  • recentuserpagechanges lists recent page changes by a certain user;
  • categorychanges lists recently changed pages in a certain category;
  • watchlist lists changes to pages in the specified user's watchlist.
