Under certain circumstances, you may want to refresh a {{SITENAME}} page display, for example if you have viewed a page in one window and edited it in another. In this particular case, the page can be refreshed simply by  pressing the '''Reload''' button of your browser. 

If for some reason that does not have the desired effect:
* if you are using Mozilla, Firefox, or Safari, try holding down the '''Shift''' key while pressing the '''Reload''' button;
* if you are using IE: try F5 ('''View''' > '''Refresh''');
* in other browsers, you may have to clear the browser's cache.

Under more exotic circumstances, you may wish to force the regeneration of a so-called ''dynamic page'', as explained in the following section.

==Forcing Regeneration of a ''Dynamic Page''==

A ''dynamic page'' in this context means one that is displayed in different ways at different times even if the text of the page itself is unchanged.

Normally, there is no need to force such pages to be regenerated, but the procedure for doing so is quite simple. Basically it involves submitting a request with the "action=purge" directive.

This can be accomplished in several ways. The simplest is probably as follows:

# Go to the page in question and right-click on the "edit" or "history" tab at the top.
# Select "Copy Link Location" or its equivalent (in Internet Explorer, select "Copy Shortcut")
# Paste the text into the browser's address area
# Change the "&action=..." text to "&action=purge"
# Press the '''Enter''' key

You can tell if a page has been refreshed by monitoring the footer line that reads "This page has been accessed N times." The counter here counts the number of accesses to the source text of the page and is only updated when the page is regenerated.
