The first known published use of the term globalization in a geographic sense was in 1944^[1].

Theodore Levitt is often credited with first using the term in an economic sense in 1983^[2].

The literature search reported in (Busch, 2007) shows that the occurrence of both "globalization" and "globalisation" was very rare in book and article titles before 1985.

The Waldseemüller map of 1507 may have been the first to depict Earth as a globe and to include Eurasia, Africa, North and South America as separate land masses.

1. The increase of trade around the world, especially by large companies producing and trading goods in many different countries.
