Help:FCKeditor
From QED
FCKeditor is a "rich text editor" that is available on QED on a trial basis.
FCKeditor (a.k.a. CKeditor) provides a good approximation to WYSIWYG editing and has some other useful features, but its integration with the MediaWiki software that underpins QED has some flaws and therefore FCKeditor is currently not enabled by default.

Enabling FCKeditor
Currently FCKeditor is only available after you have logged in. You must also have javascript enabled in your browser.
To use FCKeditor, click the my preferences tab after logging in, and then click the Misc tab. You should then see several rich editor options.
To enable FCKeditor, deselect Disable rich editor. That is, remove the check mark from the box.
At this point, you may wish to review the other "rich editor" options. We suggest that you select the option that allows you to toggle between the two editing modes. That is, we suggest that your selections with respect to these two options look like this:
☐ Disable rich editor
☑ Use toggle to switch between wikitext and rich editor (replace textarea with rich editor)
When you've made your selections, click the Save button at the foot of the page.
Editing tables
To modify a cell in an existing table, simply position the mouse over the cell and press the left-click mouse button.
To add a row to an existing table, hover over the last row and use the right-mouse button to bring up a context menu.
This context menu has a button for deleting an entire table, so please be careful.
Further details with screenshots are available on the FCKeditor website page for tables.
Adding hyperlinks
The FCKeditor palette of editing icons includes one for creating internal links, and it has the advantage of having a lookup feature, but it cannot be used to create external links.
External links, however, can be created in the usual way while in "Rich text" editing mode, e.g.
- [http://www.princeton.edu Princeton University]
External links can also be added by using templates such as Template:pdflink.
See Hyperlinks for further details.
Transcluding an image
One way to embed an external image within the page is to enter its full URL, e.g.
In general, however, it is better to use a template such as Template:Transclude.
