Anonymous users (that is, individuals who are not currently logged in to QED) cannot edit any pages, nor can they access pages in the Princeton:, Course:, or Project: namespaces, but they can view pages in other namespaces unless specific restrictions are in place.
Restrictions can be imposed in a variety of ways. One approach is to limit access to a logically-defined group of pages — see Help:Restrictions for details.
Another approach is to to flag specific pages.
The "Restricted:User" flag
To make one or more of your pages in the User: Help:namespace inaccessible to everyone but yourself, add the following text anywhere on the page: {{Restricted:User}}. This also has the effect of including a one-line notice (see Template:Restricted:User) at the point of insertion.
You can specify the text to be displayed by using the form: {{Restricted:User|TEXT TO BE DISPLAYED}}.
Please note:
- Currently, the tag will not hide the page from the QED search engine, which may therefore show snippets of text from the page.
- Removing the tag removes the restriction.
- Please avoid using this flag on your home page.
- Flagging a page in this manner does not over-ride other access restrictions that may apply to the page.
