Embedding Images
One way to embed an image of an uploaded file is to use a link such as:
Note that the "alt text" will also be used as a caption if the "thumb" option is specified, e.g.
[[Image:Tibetan_Seal_with_the_word_Library.jpg|thumb|center|120px|The word "library"]]
produces the following:The caption can contain hyperlinks and can be centered using <center>...</center> tags, e.g.
[[Image:800px-IMG 0839 Yarlong Tsangpo.jpg|240px|left|thumb|<center>[[wikipedia:Yarlung Tsangpo River|]] in Tibet</center>]] renders the image on the left.
See wikipedia:Help:Image for further details.
The <image> tag may also be used to embed uploaded images and is especially useful if you want to specify the hovertext or the hyperlink associated with the image.
Embedding Animation, Video and Audio Files
To embed a Flash animation, see QED:Flash; to embed a RealMedia video, see Help:ram; to embed a QuickTime video, see Help:mov.
For audio files, see Template:Audio.
Restricting Access to Uploaded Files
To limit access to images and other uploaded files, see Help:Restricting Access to Uploaded Files.
Miscellaneous
To create a link to the information page of an uploaded file, use the form:
- [[:Media:file.ogg]]
To re-upload a file, go to the description page of the file (for example, by typing Image:FILENAME in the search box) and locate the text that reads: "Upload a new version of this file". Note that re-uploading a file will not in itself prevent users from viewing previous versions.
