"Wikitext" is the name given to text written using wiki markup syntax.
On this website, wiki markup specifically means markup conforming to the MediaWiki markup specification, including all tag extensions, and therefore includes these components:
- Basic MediaWiki markup based on punctuation symbols such as double-square brackets, asterisks, etc.
- Templates
- wikitable markup
- Predefined magic words of the form __MAGICWORD__
- XML-style tags
- A safe subset of HTML tags
- Standard MediaWiki tags including the <html> tag allowing arbitrary HTML to be specified.
- XML-style extensions
